Hendel's Market Café History

In 1873 this building was established as a grocery and general store until it was purchased by the Hendel family 1915.

The store remained as a specialty grocery and butcher shop for 78 years.

Hendel's Market offered quality products and superior service until Henry and Marge Hendel retired in August of 1993.

In November of 1994 Ed Bennett bought the historic building and transformed it into a restaurant.  Since that time, Hendel's has remained a landmark in Old Town Florissant.

In February of 2009, we added a new 700-square-foot room in order to expand your dining experience.  Our new custom-made oak bar has enabled us to bring you an exciting new bar offering specialty drinks, extensive estate wine selections and craft beers.

Ed Bennett passed away in August of 2009, while we all miss him dearly, his dreams live on through his family Julie, Josh, Nathan & Christina.

We are honored to deliver quality service and exemplary cuisine to the community of Old Town Florissant.

Thank you for being our guest,

The Bennett Family
