Hendel's Market Cafe and Wine Bar
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places
The ground was initially bought by Henry Bockrath and he erected the original grocery in 1873. What is now the kitchen, main dining room and upstairs were added in 1886. It was the home of many grocers in the late 1800's. In 1915, Hendel's Market prospered sue to a tradition of quality service by offering fresh water for the horses as patrons shopped. The tradition of service continued as penny candy was always available for children and parents alike. Henry and Marge Hendel retired in August 1993 and Hendel's Market Cafe opened in November 1994.
